"I had a confusing and unprofessional experience with this State Farm agent. I was trying to get auto insurance for myself. After some back and forth, the agent told me: “Sorry, Jordan. I just found out that our underwriting guidelines have changed and we are not able to exclude a domestic partner or spouse from your coverages so currently you are not eligible for auto at State Farm.” After he said that, I asked follow-up questions and made a couple comments, including whether I could simply get insurance without my girlfriend involved at all, since I am not married and I was not even insured with State Farm yet. Although i was insured by state farm a couple months ago by Katie Carl (wonderful agent she even sent me a bday card highly recommend) After I asked those questions, the agent stopped responding entirely. No clarification, no explanation, no follow-up. Being told something that doesn’t make sense and then being ignored when asking reasonable questions is unprofessional. I would not recommend this agent. Edit: Mike, I understand the office was closed and I’m not disputing that. However, there are inaccuracies in your response. My girlfriend’s license was suspended over three years ago, she has since had insurance, and she is currently insured on another vehicle — so it makes no sense that she would not be eligible to be covered. I also stated that I primarily drive my vehicle and that she would only be driving it a couple times a week, not that she is driving it regularly. Additionally, I explained my situation to my agent exactly the same way I explained it to you. Based on that, the statements about eligibility and communication do not accurately reflect my circumstances or my experience, and it is extremely unprofessional to attempt to place blame on the customer—especially when this was so easily proven incorrect by another agent. Any miscommunication was not on my end. Clear communication is a basic expectation and something taught early on in school. I definitely stand by my review."
"Thanks Jordan for leaving our office a review and I will address the items you noted as you left out some key information in your review: 1) You not being eligible for auto insurance: You had told me on the phone that your 'domestic partner' drives your vehicle as she does not have her own vehicle/insurance and because she is not eligible due to her license status, that makes you ineligible. 2) Agent stopped responding to your questions: you TEXTED all of those follow up questions beginning at 5:05pm Friday after our office is closed which is why you did not get a response and answers to those questions. I can not speak to the conversation you had with your prior and now again, current agent but if you explained your circumstances to her as you did to me, the outcome would have been the same as at my office. UPDATE: And when I later needed to make changes to my policy, Tera was extremely quick and helpful. Everyone in the office is a pleasure to work with. "Lets put it this way... Mike is no "Jake from Statefarm". He is not there when you need him. He is there to sell you more stuff. Mike is condescending and according to his own words "more on the sales side" so if you need actual help with your policy or had an accident, he sends you to the 800 number. I got more valuable information from the receptionist than Mike offered with his "expertise". Everyone else in the office has been pleasant."
